AG Worlds - qualifying question

So I’m hoping to get a spot on our age group worlds team at an upcoming race. My question is this - if I am currently in the 30-34 age group but next year will age up to 35-39, how does it affect qualifying? Does anyone know? Do I have to qualify based on how my time stacks up to the 35-39 age group this year or is it based on my 30-34 placing. Just a bit confused since I’ve heard opposing stories. I won’t officially be 35 until after the race (race happens in June in Vancouver) but based on how our local race series works, I’d be racing in the 35-39 category as of Jan 1 2008.

.

an idea when 08 Nationals will be? THinking July or August? Later? What was the feeling from any competitors this year?

excellent…thanks.

My understanding is there will not be a AG Nationals next year. Well at least not a worlds qualifier. They will still have a National Championship up in Hagg Lake next year, but it will not be a qualifier.

They have stated there will be at least 6 worlds spots for 09 at 08 nationals.

I inquired about the date - because I loved Hagg Lake and want to do the race again. They said the date is not yet set, but there will be Nationals in 08, at Hagg Lake, OR, after Worlds, so likely later in the summer.

I hope they set the date soon since races for next year are starting to open up for registration and it would be nice to plan out my season.

You will have to be faster than the fastest 35 to 39 year old to qualify for the Worlds Race in Vancouver.

That’s how I got my slot (for my age group next year).

Not sure how it works in the US, but in Canada, if I recall, you have to be fast enough to earn a spot in the age category in which you are qualifying. so if there are 5 spots in the 35-39, you have to be faster than the 5th place finisher (not including roll down spots)…
