Aerobar "reach" measurement - how's it measured?

As an example, these Profile bars are listed as “245 mm reach”.

How is that measurement made?

probably from where the stem clamps to the end of the bullhorn?

Usually bar centre to tip of extensions. The reach would not include the bend, by that I mean if you were to look at the extensions from above you would measure bar centre to tip. You would not take into account the extra length generated by the bend in the bar. The bar themselves are likely longer than 245mm but the actual reach is just 245mm.

Thanks. Both of you helped.

Related question: when switching from ski bend to F bend, are any measurement adjustments needed? That is, if the distance from pads to extension tips are X on the ski bends, is there any reason the reach should be longer or shorter on F bends? I’m not sure if hand position or shift lever position (forward, not upward) matters. Measure twice and cut once!

Measure twice and cut once!
