Aerobar bottle cage mount

Hi guys. I am looking for a good bottle cage to mount between my aero bars.

Looking at the 2 cages below

The Elite Race cage

Tacx Bottle cage

Looking for one that will not launch my bottle into the guy infront of me. Any good recommendations?

I just put an Elite cage on my Hed Lollipop. Taking it out for the first trial today.

Tacx is a no no! I used them on the back of my bike and I lost two bottle and finally one of the bottle cages broke. It was ok a butter smooth roads but even a slight bump and it was bye bye bottles.

I currently have the Arundel Sport on mine and I have had no problems. Here’s the link:

Do you use the Arndel’s rear mounted. I have been having a hard time with loosing bottles and breaking cates (all aluminum so far) on my SuperWing.

This is a problem with most rear mounted systems, and is more a function of the cage
than the mounting system. The angle that the bottles are mounted is a factor too.
Ever notice all those water bottles littering the bike course?

You have a point, but, I just changed my cages and now its fine this says to me its the cage too to a big extent.

Trek Bat Cage. $10 and works best.

I have never used any rear mount system as I have heard so many problems with bottles popping out. For a while a used a profile design aero bottle. Then got tired of getting sprayed with electrolytes. I have heard of problems with the carbon arundel cages. The sport has been very tight I have them on all my bike now. Also, I never leave bottles in the cages after I ride, as I have had cages stretch on me before. My second choice would be the Profile design Kage it has a wire that surrounds the cage so it will not stretch much (see link below) in the link you will see that they have come out with a bracket for the cage to mount on your bars its called the HC mount.

Yep. X2. Cheap, sturdy, and more than functional. Add four zip ties and you are in business.

Trek Bat Cage x 3! Cheap, light and functional

Elite cage, Hed Lollipop, and some crappy roads on base - no wiggles, jumps, or dumps. The plastic Elite cage did great!

x2. Tacx broke first ride out with it. Snapped like a pretzel on a rear system. For the front (using a Torpedo/XLAB), I’ve had success with a “Chimp” cage by XLAB.

Aerobar mount cages aren’t as launch prone as rear carriers since the bottle is horizontal. That being said, get one the has an indent at the top to keep the bottle from sliding out (i.e. not the Tacx). I have a cheap Profile eKage ($6) upfront and it works great (Profile Karbon Kages in the back to keep bottles from launching).

I’m finding joy with Bontrager Race Lite Rear Cage Holder. I ride on very rough roads and over railway tracks and haven’t lost a bottle with this one.
My tacx tau bottle holders on a minoura rear mount both broke and the LBS recommended the Bontrager.
