I have a CH Aero wheel cover and was using it on a wheel that has since bit the dust. I have an identical rim depth wheel that I want to use the cover on but it is one of the Shimano wheels where the spokes go through the rim and are tensioned at the hub. Now the cover rubs on my non-drive side chainstay in one place. It’s annoying and probably defeats the purpose of having an aero wheel cover. I think it is rubbing because it can’t lay flat against the rim due to the funky spoke arrangement. Is anyone out there using a wheel cover on this kind of wheel that can tell me how they are using it without running into this type of problem?
Try using some packing tape from the inside to hold the cover on the non-drive side to the spokes.
I was on the phone recently with the folks at wheelbuilder.com. When I mentioned that I have a Shimano wheel and hub he stated it would not work and did not recommend using a wheel cover on that wheel/hub. I believe he said that Shimano hubs are wider than most and there isn’t enough space between the hub flange and cassette and the cover will rub. Sounds like the wider hub is affecting you on the other side as well.
Sorry I don’t have a solution for you. Mine was to buy a Renn.
