Much is discussed in this forum re aero, how low etc but I was wondering whether you all work on narrow shoulders. I saw a snap of myself from the front and noticed my shoulders were wider compared to many shots I’ve seen of the ‘pros.’ It looks to me that this is a positional thing ie I don’t have unusually broad shoulders. Appart from narrowing your elbow pads do you make a conscious effort to hunch your shoulders to narrow your frontal cross sectional area?

Don’t do that. Your shoulders are the width they are. If you try to “scrunch up” you’ll end up in bad shape. The most aero on-the-fly positioning tweaks you can do in any given bike position are (1) keep your head down as low as you can* and still see; and (2) keep your knees in.
*Try this: Sitting right there at your keyboard, crane your neck up a little to look over the top of your monitor. Now, without slouching, drop your head down and look under the monitor, as if a pencil rolled back there somewhere and you were looking for it. Now go do that on your bike.
That right there is a big piece of aerodynamic savings. It’s free and it’s more meaningful than something like a fancy seatpost or new base bars.
