Resurrecting this ancient thread. What’s the latest and greatest in this area? Show me what you got.
The “draft box” has kind of become the default solution for flat kits for new bikes. Trek did it first but now they’re also available for Felt, Quintana Roo, BMC, Orbea… and probably a couple other bikes I can’t think of off hand.
Short of a draft box, your best bet is a flat kit in a bottle in a cage behind your seat.
Does it work with non-xlab cages? Like those specialized plastic ones?
Torhan’s VR bottle cutout and frame mounted inside the triangle is awesome! Plenty of room and an aero plus.
I have it on a Zipp Alumina cage and it works fine (and it has standard mounting holes). I found the gorilla cages way to hard to remove the bottle from.
On the zipp cage I actually bent the top of the cage out that grabs the bottle.
It does not fit very well on the NP3 from the shape perspective…
What do you guys think of the darkspeedworks top tube mounted pouch? Is it too big an aero penalty compared to behind the seat setup?
