Ok so I am now the proud owner of a rudy project syton open and have been searching around for a visor lens for it and realized despite the popularity of the helmet the visor lens are very hard to find (yes I have found them online). SO then I started looking for other aero helmets visors and they are equally hard to find. SO here is my question. EVERYBODY on ST admits to the gains of a “properly fitted” aero helmet over a conventional one, but nobody seems to use the visor lens for them and I cant figure out why? Would they not be more aero? It seems that anything that would help to gently move air around my head would be ideal yet I cant seem to really ever find pics of people riding with them. I figure the pros dont b/c they have sponsorships with either Oakley or some other sunglass maker. But why not AG’ers? Just curious of peoples thoughts as it seems to be a cheap way to add even more aerodynamics and therefore less drag to your aero helmet. Also with a visor lens I would have total visibility in an aero tuck vs sunglasses which I seem to always be looking at the very top of. Except my briko’s
Like I said just curious of what people think and why people feel more people dont use them.
I have a Rudy Project Syton Super Comp and I took the visor off. I did it because the visor is clear and provides no rest for my eyes so I have to wear glasses anyway. Glasses and the visor would be too much for me. Also, glasses look way cooler than the visor.
If you want I can send you the visor and mounting screws.

IN GENERAL, wind tunnel tests have consistently shown visor lenses on various aero helmets to actually be higher drag.
But, IMO that can possibly be greatly dependent on the rider’s head orientation, and specifically, on the orientation of the lower edge of the lens to the airflow. In my case, with the visor on an LG Rocket, the bottom edge is basically oriented parallel with the air flow since my head is held pretty low. With a more upright head position, this edge would start becoming more perpendicular to the flow, and that’s not good from a drag standpoint.
When I attempted to measure the difference, it was too close to call…with the visor possibly being slightly faster. As with all things aero…YMMV ![]()
I bought the LG Chrono with a tinted visor and wore it for the first time recently in the Musselman half. I REALLY like both the helmet and the visor. I hate not being able to see when I’m in aero and usually ended up looking over my sunglasses.
I don’t care if others think it looks geeky; it works for me, and in addition, made me 23.7% faster!

I think I’ll go buy a bento box, now.
