Aero Helmets (20)

Any recommendations? I’m going to take the plunge but not sure if one brand or model is better than the other.

search?

What helmet is best depends on your position. If you look down a lot get a short tail (ex. LG Crono). If you get a longer tail one: make sure the tail sits flush against your back, curved tails (LG Rocket) work better if you have a curved back, while flat tails (Spiuk Kronos) are better for flatter backs. Fit also matters; get the smallest helmet that fits you (this lowers your frontal area), and if you get one that covers your ears make sure you can get it on easily.

My recommendation would be to start with a seat, I constantly see you riding around the Church and Wellesley area just sitting on a seat post. It may help you pick up guys but it’s not helping you with your riding.

LOL!! But I seriously hope you know the OP personally in order to make a post like that and that it is a personal joke. For the majority of ST’ers that wouldn’t know, Church and Wellesley is the gay area of Toronto.

Yes, I know him!!! It’s okay because it’s a carbon seatpost.

Obviously Korky is familiar with the area and must have me mixed up with one of his Buddies.

I asked John Cobb about this one at the FIST workshop. His answer was a long away around, it depends. The one interesting fact is that contrary to what everybody seems to say on this site his opinion is that for a lot of people its not worse with the tail up off your back and for many riders, especially those with the “B” type rounded backs it may actually be faster.
Buy what fits your head, but avoid those with lots of holes and dimples…

Spiuk Kronos if it fits you.

I really recommend getting one with a visor. I have a giro advantage 2 and i stuck the LG visor on it. Way better than sunglasses.

Are the helmets with integrated visors better or worse with sweat on the lenses? Sweaty lenses drive me nuts and a solution would be one less thing to think about.
