Hey… just wondering if there are any opinions for the best available aero helmet for 2014… Considering that exclusively race short course, not looking for the new aero-road variety. Also, not too many hot races, so focus is soley on aero and ease of use. Have been considering the Wing57, LG P-09 and Scott Split. Any thoughts are appreciated…
Given your requirements: A 2009 vintage LG Rocket.
really.
The only credible information I am aware of is the testing by ERO. The 09 is probably competitive with the mcClaren if I remember correctly, though helmet performance is very rider dependent. Not sure when the shipping date is supposed to occur, so you might not be able to get one for early season races.
The Selector tends to be in the top 3 for people testing at ERO, so that might be a safe bet amongst the currently available helmets. I have one and it seems to be an improvement over my old advantage.
How about a good all around helmet for eventually doing a Full or Half IM thats new for 2014 or late 2013? Something that performs in hot weather is a must.

The Evade and maybe the redesigned Rudy project. The LG aero road helmet tests very well at zero degree yaw, but I haven’t seen anything from a WT. It would be coolest (probably). The Evade borrows some design ideas from the MacCleran (sp) and their design team is pretty sharp. That would be my guess at the best all around hot weather helmet.
On response to the OP, I would highly recommend the Spiuk. I have two of them, and they are very aero.
I tried on a vorttice and the build quality seemed to be really nice, but the shape is quite different than the other two… finding reliable data so far seems to be impossible…
Great helmet! I actually saw the case for that helmet go on sale for $4.99 on the internet the other day!
