I’ve been thinking of replacing my fork on my Plasma and came across this thread:

Does anyone know if this is true, that the CR1 fork is longer than most and replacing it would F up handling? I’d like to switch to a Ouzo Aero but don’t want to screw up my handling - as it’s great.
I have no knowledge about that but don’t think that the height of a 700c fork CAN vary that much. You have to have the crown a specific distance from the rim of the wheel so the brake caliper can bolt there.
but then again, I am not looking at either of these forks.
No way to tell but take the plunge I suppose.
True, but the length of the crown above the bolt hole can be longer. That said I replaced a fork with another. The original was a special longer fork and the new was normal. Didn’t have any problems. I’m sure that the geometry will change but its really not a lot.

I wouldn’t have said it if it weren’t true. Ouzo will be 3 or 4mm shorter, which is a change most won’t notice. But some would feel that it ruined the bike. The speed per $ of the change is likely pretty poor and you would gain weight. There are very likely better places to spend your money if you want to go faster.
