If I have an aero, handlebar type water bottle mounted on my bike, should I remove one or two of the “frame” mounted water bottle cages for a 70.3 half Ironman race this Sunday for improved aerodynamics?
is it oceanside? if so, you will be fine with 1 bottle there are aid stations every 10 miles. If its another race, not sure.
But it depends on if you use something like infinit or just water and gatorade, if its the later, it will be on the course and 1 will be fine.
How about wheels? I have a friend who is not doing the race and offered to let me use his HED tri-spoke wheels!!!
The race is not oceanside, but is next to a pretty big lake.
In response to your original question:
Take it off or leave it on, either way the difference we’re talking about here is very small.
Is it worth your time to do? You’ll have to decide that but it wouldn’t be worth mine.
Re: race wheels
I’m a believer in racing only what I’ve tried in training.
Never could get myself to borrow someone elses stuff or rent a set of race wheels.
