Aero difference between a 2008 vs 2010 Zipp 1080?

Thanks,

Sergio
.

None. The 1080 hoop has remained unchanged since it was introduced.

any aero difference in the 88 hub vs. whatever was used before? don’t care just bringing it up for The Sergio

Nope. I mean, I guess there could be, but it’s either too small to measure or it’s lost once the wheel is built.

bt… It seems to me that Zipp is more careful about their hubs than other top brands. More important than ceramic bearings versus regular bearings is sometimes the quality control so that the inner or outer ring race is not out of round after press fitting it into the housing bore. You can have a perfectly round bearing that seems very silent when turned outside the housing, but if the housing or shaft dimensions are not within certain limits, it will deform the bearing rings and the bearing will become “noisy”.

Exactly. Zipp is very picky about their bearings, but they still buy them from someone else. They machine their own hub shells and axles themselves and do it to extremely tight tolerances.

They must have tight tolerances because their hubs seem to be more silent than practically all others.
