Aero cycling sock yet comfy on the long run

Has anyone come across a great aero cycling sock that also has good comfort for a marathon off the bike?

Silca socks!

X2, they are very comfortable

X3, they’re awesome all around! Any time I get some other Silca product (2-3x/year)… I end up being unable to resist another pair of the socks.

If you require MAXIMUM padding/thickness, you may want to look elsewhere, but they’re absolutely worth a purchase.

Heard lots of praise for the Silca socks. Personally, I’d recommend aero calf sleeves instead, for the following reasons:

-More aero (taller)
-Less T1 time (if worn under a wetsuit)
-Option to go sockless on the bike
-Not contaminated with debris from T1/T2 before putting on running shoes
-Ability to use your running socks of choice
-Can be removed in T2 on hot days

Thanks ALL !!!
I was looking at VeloKicks but will probably try these. For sizing, I’m a 8.5 - 9 and it seems like SILCA site makes me a large. Does that seem correct? I can’t imagine being anything over a medium but that 8.5 - 9 places me right into the large category. Anyone w/ experience in the sizing?

I’m same size shoe. Large is great fit.

Thx much!

Are you talking the foot or the upper? The aero sock I make for many companies (both knit and lycra top) use our proven moisture management foot so there would be no problem on the run. So when you talk comfort, foot or cuff?

Comfort in the foot and aero in the cuff …….

If a wetsuit swim then I think you want the calf sleeves. If not, think you can use Pro Compression or CEP compression socks.

Ahh yes, looks like many suggesting that. When using the calf sleeve / sock combo, what is your “go to”? Is there an “aero calf sleeve” and then a sock you (or others) quickly pull on (full distance ……. so I can’t go sockless).
Probably wetsuit but if not I just obviously bag the calf sleeve idea and change into the aero socks in transition.

I’ve seen good gains (45sec/40k) with the CEPs, probably due to the prominent ribbing, YMMV (as calf covering results seem to be very individual). Personally, I hate the compression for the run so I remove them and slip on some Swiftwick Aspire socks (2" cuff: low for cooling, but some Achilles rub protection).
