Aero critique - pictures added

hey there
my first time posting pics and my first time asking for a review.
these aren’t perfect angles but they are from a race so i know they are real-world versus me sitting on a trainer.

prior to looking at these pictures, i thought i wanted the seat more forward and the front end lower.
after looking at these pictures, i REALLY want the seat more forward.

bumping cause i added new pics
opinions please
.

raise seat post/saddle, lower cockpit, shorten stem or extensions, go for more compact

if you go up on the saddle, try and go 1-2cm shorter on the cranks, this will force your hips to roll down, lowering your upper body

The first thought in my un-trained head was the same. Follow up thoughts: what’s your seat angle (or where is tip of saddle in relation to bottom bracket), how long is your stem, and are you comfortable in this position? The stretched out position can be an aero benefit, although requiring more muscle support rather than skeletal.

Slide seat forward. Raise saddle accordingly. Tough to see if saddle height in pics is appropriate or not, but the far leg in the first pic looks pretty good. Drop a spacer or two. Chances are you’ll still need a slightly shorter stem even after sliding the seat forward, but you can certainly do the seat first and re-post a pic.

With all that sun, clearly not a pic from Pocono Mtns :stuck_out_tongue:

if you could get your head down that wouldn’t be a bad position.

what distances are you looking to race? that is a stretched out position that looks as though it would be tough to keep up for IM distance.

if a sprint only racer. keep the training up, and tuck your head more.

ST is cool.
i appreciate the input. some good suggestions as well as info for my next bike purchase.

what’s your seat angle?
i don’t have the measurements readily available but i am maxed out. my bike is the aluminum orbea; it’s seat post is marked with 74 and 76 degree positions and i am in the 76. my saddle is an adamo and it is slid forward beyond its marked range. i knew it was a conservative frame when i got it. i appear to have guessed poorly on my fit needs.

are you comfortable in this position?
i am 90% of the time. i do get a little fatigue in my shoulder during longer rides and that causes me to move around more than i’d like. a few posters noted that i seem a little stretched out in the pics, though i don’t feel it when i ride. perhaps its enough that the bigger distances stress the shoulder muscles.

tru dat. you’d see my aero parka if it was. this was the 90 degree Diamond in the Rough.

i can. more than one poster said that too. i know this was a twisty part of the course. i’ll work on it when i’m riding some straightaways.

what distances are you looking to race?
all of them of course. the olympic is my favorite so i am trying to base the fit on that.

given what i have available, i’ll pull one spacer and try a shorter stem. i have a long winter of trainer time ahead of me.
thanks everyone
