Aero bottle dimensions?

Anyone know the max depth and width of the Specialized, Arundel and Bontrager aero bottle?

Bontrager is a bit bigger - I replaced it with Arundel when I got my new Wilier.

Thanks for the link. Width would be nice too. Looking for narrowest bottle out there.

Wonder if UCI rules (3:1 rule) will be applied to these bottles someday.

Width is 4.5 cm, give or take 1 mm.

thank you! does anyone know if the others are the same or narrower?

How many ounces do these hold? I was looking at Profile version at the IMMoo expo and the guy said he thought it held 10 ounces. If they are all that small what good are they - they would take too long to refill during a race and don’t hold enough to train on. Plus on a training ride who cares if you are aero? I’ve been out of the sport for awhile and it appears much has changed…

I’m talking about for race day use.

18 oz./600 mL.

Mine is a supplement my Aerodrink, and I use it in two ways:

Oly: Partially full of water, to refill Aerodrink. I often need just a touch more than the Aerodrink holds for this distance.

Long training ride/HIM: Arundel bottle used for Perpetuem. It can hold enough for four hours, at least (for training rides). I use a Camelbak for extra water in training, and just use the bottle hand-ups when racing.

So on race day they hold 10-16 ounces, you’re not going to toss it and get a new one, so after the 10-16 ounces is gone what good is it? Asking a serious question, not knocking it, just trying to understand their purpose.

I have the Bontrager bottle. It holds 20oz. I’ll measure it tonight if I remember.

You could fill it with a high-cal drink (such as Carbo Pro) and easily fit 1000+ calories into it.

I agree that it wouldn’t make much sense to use for water (in a long distance race).

-Scott

Using it for home-made gel & electrolytes on IM’s - enough carbs for the bike leg.

  • Or in sprints and short TT’s when I only need one bottle.

Anyone got an idea on the width of the bottles?

Dimensions are as follows 24.5cm in length 40.74mm in width and 13 cm in height

Did my own leg work on the Specialized Bottle
.

How wide is the opening on the Bontrager bottle? Does the top screw off/pop off like a normal bottle, or does the entire black part come off somehow?

Thinking of using this as a toolkit mounted just above the BB (ala P4), and larger opening would be better.

Thx.

The whole black piece pops off. You twist it far enough so you can get your fingres under it and then you pull it up. The opening is quite small…its a circle with a diameter of ~1.5in. You definitely can not use it as a tool kit unless you cut it from the opening and then all the way down the spine. I don’t think you’d have to worry about it opening while riding b/c the mount is quite secure.

Bontrager bottle…

max width ~4.5cm
max depth ~13.5cm

length ~23cm

Let me know if you need/want any other measurements.
