Aero Bar Choices

I am in the process of building an upper end tri bike. I am narrowing down my aero bar choices to the Easton Attack or the Profile Design CX3. Any experiences with these two bars—good, bad, ugly or simply sensible criteria for selection would be most welcome.

Of course I am going to attempt to try both but for those that may have ridden these bars for some time your views in particular would be most helpful. (Presume the pricing is the same.) Lastly, I am certainly open to other choices so offer those as well if you like.

Many thanks

Currently use the Easton Attacks (non-adjustable, last years model?) and absolutely love them. Stiff when climbing or sprinting (do we really do that), lightweight, aero, etc. Internal cable routing is slick, but was a little challenging to do.

i have the easton attack…its sexy and light, but non adjustable, and the arm rest are smaller than most, so for a 70.3 or IM your forarms will get uncomortable. but i still love em

If you can get comfortable with the Eastons, they are light and way sexy. Don’t force fit though; if they are not for you go for the profiles (I like my pads further back and have the profiles).

I don’t really care for the integrated bars because they are too difficult to get a really good fit. I use a cheap FSA base-bar, levers and a hybrid Zipp/HED clip-on to get a really narrow/high hand position. It took me a couple of months of fiddling to get it all straightened out, but there is no way I could be as areo, comfortable and powerful on an integrated bar. Being able to slide the arm rests back and forth on the Easton’s might not be enough to get really comfortable.

If I had the money, something like a HED Corsair would be my preference. You get a choice of extension shapes (I love the lazy-S), rotation in every direction, ingetrated brakes, and internal cabling. The Zipp stuff is also very nice.

x2. Forgot to mention that. I ordered and am using a set of CeeGees aftermarket direct replacement pads and they are the Roll Royce of aero pads!!!
