Aero ANT+ Speed Sensors?

Has anyone seen an aero ANT+ speed sensor, or are they all the same little boxed-shaped wind catchers? If you have seen an aero designed ANT+ speed sensor, can you list a resource for them?

I think I saw one when checking out a Trek yesterday that will be used in the ToC ITT in LA.

Regardless of their shape, have you considered mounting one on the backside of a forkblade or seat or chainstay to minimize their impact on the airflow.

I’m using a Quark cinqo for power/cadence. I have mounted a speed sensor on the non-drive side chainstay of each of three bikes. I may reconsider and mount them on the non-drive side seat stay. Either way, I have to “lean” the sensors in toward the wheel magnet to get a pick-up. Leaning the sensor towards the wheel adds to the small aero penalty to which the box shape alone contributes.

The Trek Speed concept that I saw the other day has a shielding space within the non-drive chainstay for a speed sensor. However, mounted just inside this area towards the wheel, I saw a bullet shaped sensor of some sort. I’m kicking myself for not taking a pic or thinking to ask the mechanic if that was a speed sensor.

Regardless, I would guess that speed sensors could be made in a shape that is something more aero than a rectangular box. Maybe it has already been done. That is what I’m asking about / looking for.

Bontrager/Trek sell an ANT+ cadence and speed sensor as an after market item. It is similar in appearance to the Powertap cadence/speed sensor. Check out Bontrager website

Trek will start selling an ANT+ speedtrap sensor, which integrates into either fork blades or non-drive chainstay, but I don’t think it’s available yet.

Most of them have enough range to mount on the chainstay, though, which is not a bad place at all - aerowise. Better to put a “box” there than ANYTHING on the fork, IMO.

I saw the speedtrap add in sensor at my local Trek store almost a month ago.
I stared at it for about 10mins thinking how I’d mount it on my P3 without drilling out my chainstay.
You might be able to zip tie it pretty flush to a chainstay by drilling holes in the plastic lip around it.
