I have been running Supersonics on my TT bike for 2 years now. Love em. Anyway, I have been using the 23mm version front and rear. I remember, I think it was Ruff, who uses the 20mm version on the front. There was talk about a not insignificant gain in using a 20 on the front.
My TT rig is a P5 with Enve 8/9’s. The front 23 Supersonic does produce quite a bulge mounted on the rim.
What kind of aero gains might I expect moving to 20mm front?

Well although I didn’t verify it personally. TJ went from 23mm GP4000s at IMMT to Supersonic 20mm front and rear at Ironman World Championship according to his crew. I’m sure it wasn’t for durability or better handling.
Not the exact comparison you’re after, but experiment #2 here might still be of interest:

Tire A = VeloFlex Record, tire B = Bontrager AeroWing TT, tire C = Continental Supersonic, all nominally 19-20 mm.
