At least I think so.
…agreed…there are not that many people that could turn that interview with Paul Kimmage around like Lance did in a few short minutes…and now as “the old guy”, I’m hoping that he can put down a respectable performance at the TdF. Hopefully those marathons did not take the edge off his climbing legs.
Agreed.
Maybe for the TMZ crowd that only pays attention to cycling if Lance is racing.
It’s like I got the cycling bug again.
I second that vote. Cycling is more interesting with Lance.
I got into running because of Prefontaine in 1998
I got into cycling because of Lance because of 2003 Tour de France
and I got into triathlons because of Macca 2007 Kona.
Im just glad I get to see two of my idols compete before they retire considering Im only 25. Now I would love to see Lance and Macca go head to head in Kona 2009.

Was it the Prefontaine movie in 1998 that got you into running? Or the Pre meet every year in Eugene?
Its not that cycling is more interesting with LA, its BECAUSE of LA that its televised more, which causes more viewers. The “interesting-ness” of races is the way it always is, just with the biggest cycling name added.

I got into pot because of Phelps in 2009.
Yep, its just like the good old days
.
I got into swimming because of Tommy Chong
.
I second that!!
I was 15 in 1998, I was a freshman in High School. I admit it was the Movie, which open my curiosity do write my high school papers and essays about his life.
Why? did you hear there is a Lance movie in the works? JkJk
god, it’s really not. triathletes are like the only people who do races on bikes that love lance.
what would TRULY make cycling more interesting is if mr. queen of boring racing, levi l., would retire along with lance. watching IM wisconsin on Vs. is more interesting than watching levi race (and “so and so is on the attack!” is more accurate for IM pro’s than it is for levi). boring boring boring.
Not sure how you can say that, especially after Levi’s amazing performance today. But then again, I guess you must be better than most pro cyclists, so I’m sure you know what you’re talking about.
it’s true, i am. thank you!
LANCE Is the Yankees, Tiger Woods Micheal Jordon and ESPN of USA cycling all rolled together.
The sponsors pay more , the coverage is better and he s is truely helping solidifying Tour Cal into
a sustainable epic event. My guess is Tour of Cal still bleeds cash for its owners and needs to grow.
From my limited reading I gather his unequaled success comes from his unequaled disipline and I admire that.
he is my hero except he really blew it with Cheryl Crow .
She is the stimulus package of my dreams.

I agree, it would be great to see Macca and Lance participate in Kona at the same time. However I don’t think they would be actually ‘competing’ as such. Note below:
Lance Armstrong, NYC Marathon 2007 - 2:46:43 (fresh)
Chris McCormack, Ford Ironman Hawaii 2007 - 2:42:02 (following 3.8/180)
+1 from me. Lance has an similar aura about him in the sport of cycling that Shane Warne had in the sport of cricket - you just coudn’t take you eyes off them, in case you missed something incredible.
At least I think so.
Admit it - baseball is more interesting with A-Rod

um, last time I checked Lance wasn't a world champion marathoner....there does happen to be that other 112 mile thingamajig that they do in Kona. I heard he's pretty good on 2 wheels....
