To anyone who has installed their compact cranks: (1) did you remove any links from the chain? 1? 2?; and (2) did you adjust the front der? down on the seattube?
In particular, I’ll be putting an Octalink/Shimano 9spd compatible set on this w/end.

Adjusted the front der. down a tad but that was it.
Took out 2 chain links (Cervelo P3 w/ 52/39 DuraAce)
Lowered the front der just about all the way down.

Ditto on my P3. I dropped the front der as far as it would go (switched from the stock 53/39 to the 50/34), and took out one link. I’m counting one link as one “set” of internal and external plates.
I didn’t remove a link, but after 500 miles, I now think I will. The derr mount is at the bottom of the braze-on.
Yes, took out one link. I only removed it to keep the chain from dragging on the RD. That way I could go to a bigger cassette if I need to later.
Moved the Fd down a bit. I went to Park Tools website for instructions on each procedure. They have some great instructions.
