Adjusting back to road bike

I rode my road bike today for the first time since early february. Just an easy 25 mile spin. It felt VERY strange after 2+ months exclusively on the tri bike. I never had this sensation last season, when I would ride the road bike about once per week. Also, this winter I changed the tri bike position, bringing the saddle much further forward. The road bike felt very stretched out to me.

So how long does it take to re-adjust? Do those of you who ride both regularly try to duplicate, as much as possible, your tri position (e.g. forward saddle position) on your road bike?

Thanks,

bump I was wondering the same thing.

Really? Nobody?

I ride my road bike in a semi slammed position, seat slightly lower and back. Definately not forward on a road bike unless you’re using it for TT’s or tris. My P2K is quite steep.

Most of my riding is group rides with a roadie group but make a point of riding the P2K once a week solo, unless it’s the week of a race then I’ll often skip a roadie ride or two to concentrate on the tri bike…

If I switch back and forth regularly this way it’s not too difficult to transition.

CCF-

got my road bike setup at about 75 degrees and the tri bike at 76 degrees… dont like the idea of “wasting” muscle time riding a road bike

hope that helps

It never dawned on me to try to replicate the exact same position on my road and tri bikes, as they have entirely different purposes. If I’ve been riding one a lot, the first few minutes on the other feels different - not bad, just different. After a couple of minutes though, the sensation passes and I’m back to being one with the machine.
