Adjustable stem for 31.8 base bar...?

Does anyone make an adjustable stem that will accommodate a 31.8mm base bar (like the Profile Design T2 Wing)?

As far as I can tell, the Look Ergostem, Oval Concepts RBT R710 and Ritchey adjustable stems are will not work with OS bars.

Thanks.

Steve

welcome to my world. dude, I’ve looked for a adjustable stem for 31.8 bars for ever, until I found this baby;

I got it on my tri bike. works well, on my T2 base bar.

aerojunkie beat me to it, dimesion has the only adjustable 31.8 stem I am aware of. They also make a -130 degree stem without adjustablility for 31.8

Is this what you’re looking for?

I got mine from Bikeman. Good price, but slow on delivery.

Here’s another option, but I’m not familiar with the brand:

Yea what is the deal with that? Aren’t the 31.8 bars better? So why the hold up getting the 31.8 stems out to buyers?

Weird. Aerojunkie’s link says it only comes in 100mm and the other link says only 110mm. Either way, that’s not much of a selection. Hmm…

Deda lists one in their road section on their main site. Unfortunately only able to track it down in the UK. (Well that is only unfortunate if you are not in the UK).

I had the same problem. On a thread I started someone posted about the Specilaized multi position road stem, all come in 31.8. I checked it out and ordered it for $40. It can be adjusted in 2% increments. There are too options for angles depending on how big a drop you need. They come in every length. I like the idea of using a shim to change the angle as opposed to another bolt. seems it may be more durable and less chance of breaking. We will see.

Ritchey is coming out with one as well, that is identical to their 25.4. I just ordered a size run, but won’t know the ship date until tomorrow. I’ll repost with more info.

Got the Specialized stem today and installed it. Looks great not really any heavier than my previous FSA OS 115. Feels solid and gives a nice range of drop. I went from a 100mm -17 degree stem to a 120mm w/ a 20 degree drop. My comfort/ aero problems seemed to be solved.

Very interesting. Specialized looks to offer a bunch of option in adjustable stems for 31.8mm. Not as adjustable as some others, but if you have a pretty good idea of what you want, they seem like a solid option, for a good price. Which one did you go with…

And, any chance you have a pic of it installed? I’m really curious how a stem with 20* drop looks installed. And, if I’m reading correctly, you can still go further (up to 28*) with the other included shims. Will these stems work with 1" steer tubes?

Thanks.

I plan on taking a pic and will post to get some feedback. Once I figure out how to post a pic on ST. I got the Comp road multi-position stem in 120mm and am currently using the +/- 12 degree shim which equals a 20 degree drop, if I calculated right. It gets a bit confusing so I am really just eye balling the drop based on my old FSA OS 115. The nicest thing I did was to just get a longer stem. I now realize I was too compact and it feels much better. Also with the added length to the stem I am able to get lower. Right now I can not even imagine using the other shims. It would be a super low position if I did. I might try one out later in the year. It does not come w/ a 1 inch shim. The price rocks? and since I have a Specilaized it works quite nice.
