Adam's Crazy Ass ride question

Hey guys. Was that you that Thierry and I saw between Clear Creek and Red Box? Who was that way out in front of you? WE had to get back, or I would have joined you for a little while. How did it go? Was 39 passable?

How did you like the view of the clouds when you popped out of them around 2500 feet?

It was us. Not sure who you saw out in front, probably wasn’t one of us unless he had on a white jersey w/ red blood cells on it. The group up to the 39 consisted mostly of roadies that I train and race with but none of them did the whole route. In fact, only 3 of us rode the entire route, finishing in the dark. We went through about 6 tubes one wheel(gotta love SAG) and one tire on the ride.

We had a very mixed group of triathletes, roadies, and even 3 century/brevet riders whom no one knew but had heard about the ride on a CalTech message board. People went a variety of different distances but only Adam(the ride’s founder), my buddy Matt(triathlete/roadie/lurker) and myself went the whole 135/14,500.

That ride must have been one for the books… the kind of crazy stuff that you train for

Congrats!
(Hi to Matt)

Thierry did say he saw you. Congratulations.

Congrats!
(Hi to Matt)
I’m bummed. Matt is moving back to New Zealand in about a week so I won’t have anyone to volunteer to join me on crazy days like yesterday’s or the Santa Barbara and back ride you went on with us last year.

I’ll try to join you, when I can. I have to work like hell to kinda-sorta keep up with Thierry. I did do the Crest Century 3 weeks ago. Pedalling time was 6:33, without busting my rear. That may be too slow for you.

Unfortunately, I am not in your league anymore…That doesn’t prevent me from dreaming: a two day round-trip to the Los Olivos area with “Sideways” carboloading and re(de?)-hydration ?
But who can compete with NZ.

That’s only because you are only riding in the Crest every 4-5 weeks. I should talk to the Boss. Or, maybe I should beg the Boss to let you come.

Hey Guys,

I think you may have heard of us but we’ve changed Team Crucible to the Pasadena Tri Club. Regular Saturday rides starting at 7:30am from the downtown Sierra Madre Starbucks. Second clip in at 8am at Encanto Park. We usually do some combination of bike path pacelining and then tack on to Montrose for a hammer session back to the start.

I’m also going to organize one “long” ride each month. This Saturday we’re leaving SM at 7am and riding to Long Beach via the Rio Hondo trail. Next month will likely be Clear Creek - Cloud Burst - Clear Creek.

Check us out and come out for a ride: www.pasadenatriclub.com

Jason,

Good to see Matt made it. I was pretty shagged by the time I got to Newcombs. I took us over and hour to get home from 39 and by the time I ate, showered, etc I just wasn’t in the mood to catch you guys on the motorcycle on Baldy. I figured you were almost there anyway.

Oh, I need my wheel back when you get a chance
