My LBS is awesome in the sense that they allow you to test saddles out so that if you want to buy them you can make an educated guess. So i went in to try the ISM adamo race saddle. The lady just measures my nose to base bar length and matches the adamo to my San Marco Ponza Lux (link below). It was my understanding that the adamo was supposed to sit behind where a normal saddle would sit because of the lack of the nose. Am i wrong in this thought.
I doubt you could simply measure the nose, move it back and be ready to go though. When I switched to my Adamo I had to play around with it and find the right position because of where your sits bones will rest. And as per the instructions, you shoudl ideally adjust the seat right or left to figure out how you P (sp?) nerve sits.
It can be a pain in the ass to adjust at first and can be a literal pain in the ass as you adjust to the relatively hard saddle, but it was worth the trouble for me. I can now do quite long rides without my butt minding it much at all and no more numbness.
I went through this same process last year. You’ll need to match where the rails were on your old saddle, or imagine the adamo is your old saddle with 2in cut off the nose.
When you sit on it, it should feel like sitting on the edge of a park bench. The whole back of the saddle is just for looks. It took me a solid 3 rides to get used to it - butt bones aren’t used to this kind of pressure at first so they have to get acclimated. But, this is the best upgrade I’ve purchased for my bike.
I knew i should have waited till the guy that did my bike fit before came back in. I guess i will go attempt to adjust it on my own. I will just match up the rails and see how that works.
And yea i watched the video and I explicitly asked the lady about the length and height adjustments… she apparently is uneducated. This is really bad b/c she is one of the main ppl at the store.
