When I run longer than 6 miles, my left achilles becomes tight and sore (during the run). I have to stop running and stretch every 1/2 mile or so. Are there any ankle support devices that I can wear to support the achilles? Does taping help? I stretch my achilles (religiously) during the day and do toe raises (>100/day). I’m doing IMF and fear I might damage my achilles (1st IM). I’ve been running/triathloning for 3 years.
Stop doing the toe raises! Toe raises strengthen the posterior calf, NOT stretch it. Sounds like you are overworking it. Stand on the stairs with the ball of your foot and drop your heels slowly, stretch, the opposite of the toe raises.
