Counting one person’s total Ironman wins- Does Paula Newby Fraser hold the record for the most Ironman wins? If not, who does hold the record for the most total career Ironman wins?
Thanks guys… researching an editorial on gender in sport.

I believe Paula. Check out her bio on multisports.com to get the correct number or e-mail Paul via the website.
Good tip. Thank you. I’ve been Googling…
Paula holds it at 24. There are no men anywhere close. I believe Heather Fuhr is second with something crazy like 17 - not 100% on that, but Paula for sure.
Yup, you guys are right. Thank you gentleman.
I thought Tom Demerly did?
So which male has the most IM wins? Anyone?

The original question is very vague.
IM Hawaii wins? Dave Scott
IM™ wins?
IM-distance races included?

Yes, open to interpetation. If you count ultras as the category, it’s proabably someone like Kenny Glah, Paulli Kiru, or Ray Browning… Mark Allen had 10 Nice wins to go with his 6 Hawaii Victories, and probably had a couple more ultra wins in there somewhere too…
Hmmm…let’s see…
Lothar Leder has won in Roth 5 times, once in Frankfurt, once in Japan, once in Florida, once in New Zealand, once in South Africa = 10
Peter Reid: 3 Kona, 3 Australia, 1 Lanzarote, 1 Canada, 1 Austria = 9
Was hesitant between these 2…so I’d say Lothar…
I was wondering where Kiru and Browning would fall in the mix. I know Dave Scott won Japan once or twice, but I’m not sure about any other IM’s. Allen won either Australia or NZ once, but focused primarily on Hawaii and Nice. Peter Reid has nine, I think.
scott
Allen never won Oz nor Australia. However, he has one Japan.
Peter has 9 indeed, and I already listed them
Ray Browning has 5 (3 Canada, 1 Japan, 1 NZ)
Pauli Kiuru has 5 also (4 Australia, 1 NZ)
Dave Scott has 8 (6 Kona, 2 Japan).
Looks like Leder has the most, with 10.
Macca also has 8 (5 Oz, 3 Roth).
How about total IM finishes?
I know they were talking at IMNZ this year about Ken Glah having finished 50 so far. I can’t imagine too many people beating that number.
Or how about Cameron Brown. He’s podiumed in something like 27 out of 29 IM races he’s entered (and I don’t think he’s ever DNF’d an IM race)
How has the highest winning percentage, given at least say 20 races/finishes?
What about Juergen Zack? Or is he in the shame bin forever?
Zack in the shame bin? Why, for riding a Softride?

No, for being busted by the German federation for doping. He denies the accusation, but conveniently retired rather than go through the defense process.
Interesting! I love statistics.
Jürgen has 4 or 5 IM-Europe (Roth) although 1 could be from when it was a Half-IM (errr 70.3). He also won 3 Austria and I think Australia… not sure about anything else.
Luc must be up there, too. He has 2 Hawaii, 2 Malaysia, Roth … not sure about anything else.
Let´s copy, paste and complete a ranking:
Leder: 10 , 5x Roth, Frankfurt, Japan, Florida, South Africa, New Zealand
Reid: 9 , 3x Hawaii, 3x Australia, Lanzarote, Canada, Austria
Scott: 8 , 6x Hawaii, 2x Japan
McCormack: 8 , 5x Australia, 3x Roth
Zäck: 8 , Roth 4x, Austria 3x, Australia
Allen: ? , 6x Hawaii, …(Austria ?)
Brown: 7 , 6x New Zealand, 1x Frankfurt
van Lierde: 5? , 2x Hawaii, 2x Malaysia, Roth
Browning: 5 , 3x Canada, New Zealand, Japan
Kiuru: 5 , 4x Australia, 1x New Zealand
Hellriegel: 3? , Hawaii, Canada, Lanzarote
How about Tinley?
Axel
you can bump Cam up by 1…he has 6 x NZ’s, 1 x Europe
.
Jo Lawn has won IM NZ 5 times
Erin Baker has at least 6 (4 IM NZ; 2 Kona)
