About Boston

i’ve been here at least 20 times and i’ve come to the conclusion that driving in boston is like swimming. unless you started by age-6 you’re never going to get the hang of it. your town is just geographically f*&ked up, and i came to that undeniable conclusion at 1:30 this morning, as i was asked for my “ticket” at the toll booth as i exited the mass pike. what ticket?! this was a significant point, as i was quickly exhausting cash on hand at successive toll stations.

your whole big dig fiasco is god punishing you for the way you laid out the rest of your surface streets and highway system, tho the word “system” grants some aforethought status that is undeserved.

Dito. On a recent business trip there I called Hertz and told them to come get thier car at the hotel and that I couldn’t get anywhere in that town in a car. I then called my boss and told him he would see an expense report for numerous $30 cab rides each day as long as I was working in that gridlocked excuse for a transportation system of a town. The run trail along the river, now that’s another story. I really liked that run route.

Big Dig = Big Waste. I work in the city (7 years), but live ~35 miles out, and rarely drive in. It’s just not worth adding another hour to my commute. The roads are terrible. On the other hand, my dry cleaner makes a fortune on guys like me who have to walk through the mess every day.

I’m doing my first winter hike up Mt. Washington Saturday, otherwise I would be at Landry’s Friday night.

The streets of Boston evolved from “cow paths”. It wasn’t planned (as, for instance, was Philadelphia).

What’s up at Landry’s?

“What’s up at Landry’s?”

i’m here on a secret mission, however i am surfacing to address civilians and i believe it’s at landry’s natick store and i believe it’s friday night. i am not entirely in possession of all the details.

i’m not sure of everything i’m going to say but it’s going to be riveting and spellbinding and stuff like that.

Looking forward to meeting Slowman tomorrow night!

Awesome, I am heading up! How many STer’s are going???

your whole big dig fiasco is god punishing you

Actually, I think all taxpayers are being punished for this.

Are you “Off the Grid” yet with a wood stove?

Hey what are we missing. Tell us the details. Can slowtwitchers come too. Landry’s natick is only 25 minutes from me, and monk won’t be there to hog all of your time.

isn’t that a mess? i lived in springfield for a couple years and dreaded every time i had drive over there and hear its a lot worse now…and it was a motoring minefield back then

I would love to go if we can get more info on it.

if i am reading it correctly it’s open to the public. I’m planning on heading up

Thanks for the info, I’m all over it. I’m pretty sure I’ll be there.

I don’t want to speak out of turn here, but Dan’s visit may be limited to Landy’s Tri Club members. I belong to a different chapter (store) than the one sponsoring this, so you may want to take a look at the website and put in an inquiry.

We live an hour north in Maine. I have been going into the city my whole life. Last week we went to dinner and spent over an hour trying to find the resteraunt. Never did find it and turned around and went home. You ever see those couples arguing on the Amazing Race…that was us.

Thanks, was afraid of something like that. I’ll look into it.

reading the blurb on the website, i think it implies that it is open to the public.
