ABG Question for Dan and/or Herbert

Hey Dan (or maybe Herbert could address this)

I know you are pretty well connected at ABG. Some day you should do an article on ABG in ST. Who are these guys anyway? Who owns them (privately held right?), who are their key (road) product designers, how do they manage multiple brands and product lines, what is their culture, future plans, gross revenues vs Trek, etc? Will Litespeed remain primarily a ti builder and not go the way of Asian CF. I think I recall they started doing custom ti fabrication outside of bike biz but don’t know much about them.

Their web site has very little on whom they really are and their history. Then look at the Real Design site…practically nothing there. If there is something out there in the public domain I would love to see it. I realize it is none of my damn business but as an owner of two ABG bikes I am just curious about this company down in Chattanooga (how do you spell that anyway?).

I think the history of QR and where the original QR tri bike geometry came from is a story worth telling. Also, the evolution of the QR wetsuit.

Yes and if you look up Dan’s ID in ST it says his occupation is “storyteller”, so its time to lay it out there.

I think there is some history retrospective somewhere on this site. Also, the '05 QR catalog contained some historical spin in the form of photos at least.

He mentioned that the other day…and made a comment about a lynching if he did…some dogs are better left sleeping.
