Reminds me of the reports that the French had been selling Iraqis Gazelle Helicopter immediately prior to Gulf War II.
Why?? The situations seem somewhat different. Iraq was allowed to have a military, after all. The difference is that Iran seems to be arming non-uniformed, non-military terrorists / insurgents. The Iraqi army were not terrorists, as far as I am aware.
I have to say I am SHOCKED! Who ever thought Iran would be capable of such an action?
I think it doesn’t matter a lick. The only thing that might be done is a squad of super tough Marines may blow something up in Iran. Even that would be doubtful right now.

Not only won’t we retaliate, but we’re probably about to start opening talks with Iran about how they can settle things down, which will only mean that Iran will emerge as the powerbroker. Nothing like taking down a hollow power so that we can strengthen an enemy that has an actual nuclear program. Nice job, George.

and all other Muslim nations and groups … as unpallatable this is to the liberal minded, it is really just that way right now like it or not. Them against us. The them is quite easy to define because at least they are all bound by the same ethos, show a real commitment in purpose and support each other against outsiders at all costs. The us needless to say display just opposite traits.
It’s a worry that can very well manifest into real catastrophes.
