I know this is a long shot. If this happened to be you, please send me a PM. At around 11:15 or so today, I was driving into Abbeville on Hwy. 72. I passed you on your bike as you were riding past the Bi-Lo. You were on your blue and silver P2C with behind the seat bottles. You looked like you were gettin’ it pretty good … all aero’d out, in good form and looking smooth.
Oh yea … and you were carrying a fishing pole.
I almost drove off the road when I passed you and noticed that. You seemed to be holding the handle in your hands up on the aerobars and you had the pole draped back over your shoulder. So is this a new duathlon going on in our area? If so, I haven’t heard about it yet? I’m only 3 miles from Lake Russell and I used to work in the fishing business. This could be right up my alley. Is it ride, fish, ride or fish, ride, fish?
Where do you find that it’s most aero to carry a bass or crappie? That P4 with the tool kit thingy in lieu of the water bottle could be good. You could make it into a mini live well.
Honestly man … that was a real hoot. Who are you? Fess up and lets go ridin’ and fishin’! I’m just off of Hwy. 72 about 12 miles west of where I passed you.
It wasn’t me, but yesterday I planned my ride to go out to a stream I hit from time to time just to see if the water was too muddy to fish. It looked good, so after the ride (and mowing the grass), I drove out there and fished a couple of hours before dark. I caught a nice 14 inch smallie and a little’n.
Maybe the fishing pole was just a roadside find. There are so many bass boats being hauled around my area. I’m sure Bubba must forget to securely stow a rod/reel every now and then – especially when he’s tired, drunk and frustrated after being outsmarted for hours by fish.
My pleasure. I’m sure you’d find it to be little-changed from what you remember. That’s why I love living here – except when Ernest T throws bricks through my front window.
I wonder if his front wheel hubs lock so he can put it in two wheel drive for the mud?
If it were me, I’d have to add a gun rack to the back somewhere. Maybe get a custom camo paint job!
Only in Abbeville!
It’s a good thing I wasn’t drinking anything, because it would have shot out my nose and all over the keyboard. He may have been carrying concealed.
i must've looked pretty silly doing a post-run cool down walk last night with a canoe paddle in my hand - it was sticking out of someone's rubbish bin at the curb, it's a perfect fit for tanker (who had cycled behind me on the run, so i had him there to fit it up), and he didn't want to carry it on his bicycle. needs a bit of sanding and varnish, but it's a nice paddle.
We have an end table that was picked up as someone’s throw-away. My wife loved it.
Sorry … it doesn’t count for purposes of this thread unless you can ride a perfect aero position at 25 mph with the thing lashed to your back. Oh … and you must be on a Cervelo.
