A tragedy in my midst

Early this morning, I was thinking about how easy it is to take for granted a life that focuses on training and posting on your favorite forum, primarily since I have been so far removed from that for the past several months. Then I came across this article:

This gist of it is that a 23 year old who came in 11th rode his bike down to the store to get some ice for the picnic his team was having, and on the way back he collapsed and died.

I did this race on Sunday. I left just after 11:45. I drove home on the road he was on. And I knew nothing about it until just now.

Don’t take your blessings for granted. You don’t know how long you have. You don’t know when it will be your time. Appreciate that you can spend your time doing the things that make you happy, rather than the things you are obligated to do.

And take care of yourself.

That absolutely sucks. And you are absolutely right. Take nothing for granted; it could all be gone in an instant.

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

Abraham Lincoln

What a tragedy.
He was just up at Mooseman a few weeks ago.

My guess is he had a congenital problem similar to what forced Greg Welch into retirement…Ventricular something.
In Patricks case ,it was too late to discover.

My heart goes out to his family.

Dance like nobody’s watching; love like you’ve never been hurt. Sing like nobody’s listening; live like it’s heaven on earth."
– **Mark Twain **

note: I’m not 100% sure if Mark Twain did actually say this (google said he did ;-), so it must be true)
