…and no, I don’t mean in naked Twister.
I was watching a replay of the Malibu Tri tonight and had the following thoughts seeing Michellie Jones and my favorite Jesse Stenslands’ bike positions. I should probably try to find pics to back up these observations but for now the ‘text only’ version will have to suffice.
Michellie was set up in a way this board would approve of readily. Steep angle, disc wheel, aero helment, ears just a tad forward of her elbows. Jesse was on her Specialized, and I think her position looked strained. Her arms and especially shoulders looked stretched out. Her back did look good (but then when does it not?) - to me it looked a lot like a Big Slam position and I can’t figure out why that would be the best position for her. Her core strength and flexibility is enormous. I am far, far from an expert but I just couldn’t understand the reasoning behind her bike position. Both athletes started and finished the bike in about the same time.
Any thoughts?
