I’m in Florida. Windchill of 6 is apocalyptic. ![]()
Yes. Vero beach daytona melbourne all record lows for february. yikes! We all think it is funny when Floridians wear a hat when its 50. Now they have to wear two.
I was out yesterday adding some covers to some of my fruit trees. It was cold and windy. I was wearing long pants, a jacket - and flip flops.
Navesink River here in Central New Jersey:
People were also playing ice hocky…on the beach in Wildwood.
Well the big reason we live and stay in CA is on full display during this storm of the decade. 81 here today, and even the beaches are going to be warm. Whatever issues folks have with us, this is indisputable as the one big reason to stay, at least until the next big fire!!! (-;
Stay safe everyone in the path, keep those Uggs handy
In the PNW we just went 14 days without rain. Have not seen a snowflake all winter.
I got a phone call from my father a bit after 12:30. He said that he had two pipes that had frozen during the night, but that they had just thawed out (with no damage). He said that my brother had called him about 12:30 and had had the same thing happen on his house. I told him that we were all okay at our house.
But apparently while I was on the phone telling him we were okay my daughter tried calling. Around the same exact time, she noticed water pouring from underneath the cabin that she lives in behind our house. I’m waiting for things to dry some, but I’ve got a pipe to look at. Most of the house has Pex which is good down to about 16 degrees or so, but there is an outside shower that has steel. I’m guessing it came from there.
It is kind of funny that all three had pipes thawing at almost the same time.
I’m in Jacksonville, FL and our pipes froze last night for the first time since we moved here in 2009.
Near as we can tell, it froze at our water softener which is admittedly more exposed to the elements than I’d like. I hit it with one of my heat guns for about 10 minutes and it eventually got running again in the house.
Have you seen any frozen iguanas falling from trees? Apparently the legs and eggs are quite tasty.
We don’t have iguanas up here. Mostly a south Florida thing.
can you use the same recipe you use for frog legs?
This was posted by one of the Mexican restaurants here. So true. There are still nearly 33,000 places without electricity.
Day 11 here and there are still 8,400 homes/businesses without power. It hit 50F yesterday and rained most of the day which got rid of most (but not all) of the ice in my yard. Cold again today and tomorrow (high of 36F). I think I need a trip to New Zealand where it’s summer.
Wow, that sucks that there are so many still without power.
Or come out here, 85 again today. Even warmer than your old women’s camp dates!!!
Still swimming in Palmdale?
Dan and I just got back, and it is a balmy 84 to 86 in the water every day. That’s ok when its cold outside, but not so great for hammering long workouts..
