A simple question (1)

Is it bad to workout if you have had three glasses of wine?

as long as you’re not out riding your bike…sure. You may feel like crap though…I’ve gone running after a couple beers before and the first 20 minutes or so suck.

Depends…

Do you drink three glasses of wine occassionally or only on special occassions?

Who did you enjoy drinking three glasses of wine with?

Will this person be joining you in your “workout”?

Chris

I guess semi impressive if you can workout after three glasses of wine. Don’t lift weights in case you drop one on your toe.

Me, I’m home from my dad’s 60th b-day party (two glasses of wine and one beer) and all I can muster up doing is watching more of the Dog Whisperer marathon on National Geographic. I’m fascinated by this show even though I don’t have a dog.

Don’t try to swim either.

Dog whisper? What is that?

I dunno but I drank half a bottle of crown last night slept two hours then rode for five hours and was fine.

Now that is hard core. Congrats.

Better bring some PEEPS with you dude!

Not bad, but WHY?

So, I’m on the bus from work tonight to come home and ride the trainer and watch the K-State - Rutgers bowl game (results sucked, btw). Got to North Beach and some wanker bus driver was going the wrong way and tried to turn left onto Columbus Avenue with a double bus. No friggen way. He blocks traffic in all four directions, so everyone gets off the bus. I could (1) walk home up the hill or (2) walk one block to the Italian restaurant and hang out with the Euro dudes. A half bottle of Italian white, a steak, some soft polenta and fresh spinach, then more Italian white and an espresso, and no second workout for me! Note to KEJ: Yes, Piazza and it was Damian, Dario, Gueseppi and Alex. Fun time. Did you get my voicemail???

‘Dog whisper’ is what i start hearing after three glasses of wine. I DO have dogs, and they whisper the craziest things once I’ve had four glasses of wine…

amyaero,

I believe if you are asking, then you seriously are in doubt. If the wine had no effect/impairment, I can’t imagine why you would be asking.

In response to the former, I think you would be going through the motions more than “working out” for athletic benefit or training.

You might better describe and aim a workout of this sort as active recovery rather than a harder effort for stressing the body/system for improvement.

Please don’t misunderstand, I am not judging. I do think that many tend to over-train if not on an occasional basis then on a regular basis. When faced with choices of working out or going out for a drink or two I have to ask if, under non-stressed conditions, one would regularly choose to workout then is the body/subconscious looking for a means to increase recovery time before the next workout as a result of being in some form of an over-stressed condition?

In a technical sense, the body builds when in the recovery phase. In a figurative sense, you were working out when drinking the wine as this was the time your body was rebuilding.

Generally, an extra little bit of recovery (one missed workout) almost never hurts and in the long run is impossible to identify as the root cause of one’s below expectation performance.

Enjoy your recovery and limit stress to the body and mind by not worrying about it unless it becomes a habit. If it does become a habit, then you should consider giving up training/working out and taking up competitive drinking instead.

Cheers.

I believe the appropriate workout is coed wrestling.

Just my .02-

My heart rate is elevated when I drink alcohol so it makes my workouts shitty. I try not to even drink 3 glasses of wine the night before my long runs. Nothing frustrates me more than having to run super slow to keep my heart rate under control.

Monday’s run is going to suck

Jodi

So, did you get your workout in?

Where does this competitive drinking occur? and how do I sign up?
