A really dumb question for the runners

Does running make your feet bigger, and if so why? Is it an increase in muscles/ligaments etc…a swelling of the feet from steady running or what?

I ask because I was never a runner and avoided any type of run training my entire life (I’m 35). Last spring was my first tri season and thus my first ever run training season. I average about 25-35 mpw now and have noticed that whenever I pull out shoes that I don’t usually wear (like boots or dress shoes) that none of them fit anymore. Plus, the last time I bought running shoes I bought 11.5’s and I’ve always worn 10.5’s at the most.

Just curious if anyone else noticed this after starting to try to become a steady runner.
