A Protein Bar a day? Am I serious?

Your protein bar is probably fine, but you might want to switch it with a brand that doesn’t have preservatives and** tons of saturated fat. **

This.

Quantum Energy Squares displays that they are the “Official Ironman 2020 Series Energy Bar”. Says so right on the package. I didn’t race 2020, but I do wonder if these were on-course nutrition?

200 calories
Total fat 9g
Sat fat 2.5g
Trans fat 0
Total carbs 21g
Fiber 4g
Total sugars 11g
Protein 10g
Plus a few other ingredients including caffeine

I have been using these on my long bike rides, and I do like then. They seem a bit heavy for racing though, plus I always thought protein was to be very minimal.
I would use many other things before this, as an option for either workout fueling and especially race fueling. Limit fats. Limit fiber. Limit protein. Stick to carbs, sodium, water, caffeine.
Couple related threads where I’ve discussed intra-workout fueling in depth.

Any thoughts on this product if you’ve tried it?
One a day doesn’t seem to be a bad thing here.

Daily use as a meal replacement is just fine. Probably more optimal to find something higher-protein, and higher-carb, if possible. Or use something like Kirkland or Quest protein bars (low net carb but higher protein), and add a couple pieces of fruit. Carbs are important and it’s sometimes hard to find protein bars that have carbs, but aren’t pure sugar. Pure sugar would be great post-workout, but maybe better to target a little lower glycemic index if eating these things round the clock away from training times. (which I have done!)
