A note to the keyboard quarterbacks.

In the obvious department. . .I noted today that different websites quoted Lance during the post race news conference yesterday. . .and they used different words. . .

“but I was less determined.” said the VeloNews article.
“but I was less insistent.” said the Cyclingnews article.

Now, I know the words are synonyms, but these folks put the phrase in quotations, indicating that it was EXACTLY what Lance said. So. . .Which is it? Determined or insistent?

What this is really about is accuracy in reporting, as well as accuracy in use of language. These aren’t forum posts where informal language usage, while sometimes annoying or just plain funny, is tolerated. These are reporters. Where’s the accuracy these days?

Was he speaking in French and this is two different translations of the phrase? If its a translation, say its a translation.

Web reporting is rampant with this sort of imprecise language and reporting. . .whether its a parochial article or worldwide news reported on the likes of CNN and USAToday.
