A new term to replace 'socialism'

there is a tremendous amount of disagreement about the word ‘socialism’. most often on these forums, it’s used to denote… well, it’s a bit vague, but usually it involves the government doing something that someone doesn’t like.

e.g., many people like that the FDA reviews drugs before they’re allowed to be sold to the public, so that’s not “socialism,” but they don’t like certain forms of financial regulation, so that is “socialism”!

socialism, however, is an intermediate stage for a country that has undergone a proletariat revolution that’s on the path towards communism but can’t make a direct leap to communist utopia. it typically involves things like government ownership of the entire economy, a monopoly structure in all markets, centrally planned output levels in all industries, etc.

essentially, all goods are provided by the government.

this is not the reality of the united states government or economy. as a result, we need a new term to describe the bad things that the US government is involved in.

i propose the term ass-to-mouth government as the new catch-all term people can use instead of socialism. why atm government? because it’s government that leaves a poopy taste in your mouth!

for example, the us government is trying to stick its nose into health care. under the government’s plan, when you go to get a rectal exam, the government is going to conduct the exam with its cold, unlubricated member - and it’s going to shove that member down your throat afterwards through higher taxes and death panels!

the us government is also sticking its nose into the housing market. did you know that fannie mae and freddie mac backed over 96% of the mortgages that were originated in the first quarter of 2010, while also losing $8.4bn? the only thing i can think of is that the us government wants americans to move into homes so that they’ll feel secure - but the government will sneak in through the back door while you’re getting it on with your significant other, go balls-deep like 1960s batman on robin before you even realize what’s happening, and finish off in your mouth!

the fcc has also recently issued some guidelines related to net neutrality. essentially, they want to make it easier for you to download all those ATM movies without being hassled by your ISP to do it through their preferred ATM partner. what the government is really trying to do here is get you used to ATM so that the government itself can go to town on you!

ass-to-mouth government: government you can taste!

Has someone nationalised all the capital letters? If you’re too lazy to make posts readable, people won’t read them.

haha, good one.

The problem with the term “socialism” is that not many people actually knows what it means. The definition you provided isn’t really accurate either. The word is just used as a bogeyman term to scare people, and is hardly ever used as it is actually defined.

I dare you to reply to one Mr. Empfield with that same reply…but, it is very simple for people who agree with Shit Bird Obama to focus on the menutia as opposed to the real issues at hand…then again, more often than not, a democrat who spends most of their life sucking off of the system and the success of others who actually tried tends to be far too slow minded to really get the issues at hand.

Where again is that line to get some Govt. Cheese?

I get the impression that, even if you were to translate that into something resembling English, it would make just as little sense.

I just thought Dan being the socialist he was wanted all the letters to feel equal so he never uses upper case ones

Or we could use the Lavender Room definition of socialism, which is “anything the government does which doesn’t involve bombing/shooting brown people”

**a new term to replace ‘socialism’ **

Obamaism.

That should clear up any doubt…

Good idea but that term would also include “snake oil salesman”.

The problem with the term “socialism” is that not many people actually knows what it means.

The problem with the term socialism is that it’s kinda like “Conservative” and has over a period of decades, even centuries, been “Adopted” to mean many different things.

If one uses the term “Socialist” in order to give the reader any idea of what they are talking about it should be preceded with an adjective. I.E “Utopian Socialism” or other forms.

Socialism is either an EXTREMELY broad universal term used to describe almost everything because of it’s myriad of subsets which renders the word near meaningless or one must use one of those subsets to give the reader an idea of the policy or behavior characteristics they are talking about.

The word is just used as a bogeyman term to scare people, and is hardly ever used as it is actually defined.

I’ll agree that it’s used as a “Boogey man” but that is because it’s NOT defined.

From Wiki.

*Socialism is a political philosophy that encompasses various theories of economic organization based on either public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources. A more comprehensive definition of socialism is an economic system that directly maximizes use-values as opposed to exchange-values and has transcended commodity production and wage labour, along with a corresponding set of social and economic relations, including the organization of economic institutions, the method of resource allocation and post-monetary calculation based on some physical magnitude; often implying a method of compensation based on individual merit, the amount of labour expended or individual contribution.*In short…well

socialism is whatever someone wants it to be even including various aspects of free market capitalism and other systems.

some people won’t use capitals…it shows their support for all letters being created equal. The use of capitalization creates the false impression that one letter is more important than the others. That is not true, regardless of where it is placed in the string. The last letter didn’t ask to be last, it was born that way and it deserves - like the letters in the middle - to receive the same recognition and sense of value that the first is so falsely awarded by the use of capitals.

yeah, because that is a really accurate assessment of the positions that oppose your own!

Smart and insightful…how do you do it? I bet you can pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time too!
