I want to get a titanium (ie durable) top end road bike for commuting to and from work (20-25 miles each way). 2 kids = commuting is the only real riding time.
Why the Ultimate vs. Vortex?
Also any comments on Real Design wheels?

If it is for commuting, Look at the Blue Ridge.
I second the recommendation o n the Blue Ridge, although it is not a race bike. The Ultimate is a great criterium bike that goes through corners well and accelerates well. Very, very nice. The US National Criterium Championship has been won at least once on the Ultimate. It has a shortish wheel base, high bottom bracket and wants to claw its way through turns at max speed. If you want a Formula 1 car, you want an Ultimate.
The Vortex is Litespeed’s bike stage race bike. Used by Lotto Adeceo and in camouflaged form by Richard Virenque to win the Polka Dot Jersey. It is optimized for comfort, light weight and great performance on all terrain.
Some of the great unsung heroes of the Litespeed line are the Tuscany (my favorite) and the Siena. Both fantastic general purpose road frames that are highly versatile, great ride quality and fun to own.
Either way, I think you may enjoy a Litespeed if you decide on one. Be sure it fits you (longish torso) and get a good set up. They are good, durable, well made bikes for a fair price.
