Finally got my first flat on my Caliente over the weekend. The bummer of it is that the nail went straight through the tube and into my rim (Ksyrium Elite). It didn’t go all the way through to the other side, but it’s stuck in there pretty good. Anyone encountered this problem before? Will my rim still be ok with the hole in it? I’ll be taking it to the shop for a look today, but just wanted to see what I can expect. Thanks!
I went through the same thing about 4 years ago. A long nail went in through the top of the tire and into the rim(ROLF wheel); leaving an outward ding in the rim. I just took the velox off, added an extra piece over the hole, and then re-installed the rim strip. My wheel has been perfect and I never have had a structural problem.
As long as the nail didn’t hit the sidewall of the rim, you are ok. Just have your LBS take a look at it to make sure.
