A dunce reads a great essay about Kona

I don’t mean to start another debate about the writing of Scott Tinley as we’ve recently done that plenty here: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2187174#2187174

I just want to provide a link to a piece of his: http://www.scotttinley.com/writtenword.htm

I found the essay fascinating on several levels. While I’m guessing that it won’t suit the tastes of some, I nevertheless assert that it should be required reading for any Ironman fans or participants. Sorry if this was linked or discussed earlier.

Confession: if you followed my posts in that earlier thread, I was not previously a big a fan of Scott’s writing. I still find his style challenging, but the power, soul, and truth of his writing, wow. By the way, the funniest thing about that thread is that Scott himself posted (what a gentleman) and then, seemingly unaware that he had entered the room, some continued the debate about him, while some of his old friends entered to say hello. Neat.

This place never ceases to amaze me. Something gets posted about someone no matter who they are. Before long they end up on here responding to it. Scott Tinley posting to his own thread, the guy in Texas riding a tricked out P3C to work gets flagged down by a lady passing by and tells him about it, there have been other times its happened to.

I think Scott Tinley won a few new fans for coming here and taking the good and the bad that was being handed out really well and thanking everyone for both.
