So I boughht a new bike, and I took it to the fine folks at Gear (I wish Kevin and the crew had room to carry specialized, buut I know why they don’t) for a RETUL fitting. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO fun. I learned a ton, and even though I’m not the numbers nerd some folks are, it was very cool to tweak one little thing, and thenwatch the ripple effect it had.
My back angle is at 20, and I think I could probably get it lower comfortably, but they suggested I give it a while, and make sure I’m a-okay like this first. My ankling isn’t nearly as bad as it looks in this clip–it tested pretty low. My official STA is 80, but I’m probably at more like 78 here…I may move forward on my saddle in the “real world”, though.
Looks like a powerful, comfortable position. I agree - you could definitely lower your front end a little bit, but I would let your back acclimate to this aggressive position before going very aggressive. Excellent stroke! Very fluid.
Obviously a midwestern gal…based on the pastie white legs. :o)
You position looks pretty good. The main thing is that you are comfortable. I like where your head is at. With and aero helmet, is should tuck in well against your shoulder blades.
I had the option to go 08 or 09, and I went 08 as the aerobars and cassette were an upgrade. I really like it…a bit nervous at the 700 size, but it feels very comfy. Enjoy it!
I feel really comfy thus far… but it’s only been two days. And yeah, the whiteness is AWFUL. Visiiting my parents for a week in St. Pete’s this month should help, though. My goal this summer is to get an aero helmet and then see if I can work toward dropping my back a scosh. If not, I won’t cry. I’m doing okay where I am, I htink.

Is it just me, or is your seat WAY too high? I know it’s a ST cliche and all that, but when I pause the video, your leg is almost fully extended on the downstroke. Also, you could go lower in the front at some point. But in the short term I’d worry more about how high your head comes up when you are actually riding on the road rather than a trainer.

Dude, if you can hold a position on ST on video for even a second all is good. Who cares if you are sitting up holding the arm pads in your hands for 111.9 miles, as long as the photog has you in the drops you are all good!
I was going to put some baseball cards in the spokes, but I think I can find a place for the reflectors, too. Yeah, I know…I didn’t have time to monkey with taking it off before I left.
Carrots! If you are going to screw around may as well feed carrots into the spoke and make soup. Be warned…carrots and bladed spokes may stain the ceiling
