910 and High elevation gain

Anyone know a fix for this problem: Watch says Im at like 35,000 feet and I gain like 18,000 feet even on a 3 mile run…

Mine is doing the same. There’s a way to clean out the opening on the back that’s suppose to help. I haven’t done it myself yet.

.

It’s jacked. Hardware and not firmware despite what some thought at first. I’m on my 3rd one and Garmin said the fix each time was to replace the unit with a refurb.
Just my experience. Good luck!

Had the same issue long ago, in the back of the watch in the lower right there is a small hole, I cleaned it with an old toothbrush, I took out some kind of white sand, looked like sun screen, after that no more issues.

How do you know that without the watch? I had two garmin said that about and sent back. Then had it happen a couple of times after I knew about cleaning, it worked everytime since…So how do you know for sure?

There are 2 holes actually. Clean em both! Soapy water and toothbrush. Fixes it right up.

I can confirm that soapy water and a gentle cleaning with a sonicare toothbrush worked for my 910.

the one from CarbonMan. It is exactly the process Garmin made me do over the phone.

Very good question. I have the luxury of living near Garmin HQ so I am able to go directly to their on-site help desk folks. They can boot it into a diagnostics mode and they can figure it out that way. Plus I was also running the Garmin marathon when one of the times it happened (starts/ends at Garmin HQ) and was able to show a Garmin tech person at the end of the race. Also, I swim with mine in a pool regularly which helps keep the hole clean.

Thanks…I meant how do you know about the other guys watch for sure

Oh, sorry. I don’t know what other guy you are referring to. Maybe I didn’t say it well but mine failed 3 times and each time Garmin said it was the hardware problem. Hope that helps.
