710g Disc Wheel

I found this site that lists an Accel Kevlar Lens Disk that weighs just 710g. I assume this is an old wheel as the others listed are old. Does anyone have any info on the wheel? I am not looking to buy I am just curious what made it so light and why it failed in the market place.

Track riders used to like them. I had one in about 1999. Biggest piece of junk ever made. I sold mine before it fell apart because it really seemed that flimsy. Kevlar rim with the hub suspended by a thin kevlar sheet on each side. not very round or true. No lateral stiffness at all. Hub looked like a hub from a wal-mart bike. The axle on the non drive side had a bunch os spacers all the way to the locknut seemed like it would not hold its adjustment at all or at the very least be very flexy. Sound good?

Sounds great! I now know what to get next…!

I wish that site had what year and version of some of the wheels. The data is useless really. Zipp and Campy wheels have had drastic change’s - but kept the names.
