Why does Mary Beth Ellis have rubber kitchen gloves on her aerobar extensions leaving T1 (about 4:40 into the video)? Just to keep them dry if it had rained? Did she dump them on the road when she mounted?

His T2 time was actually still one of the faster ones. He came into T2 30 seconds back of the first guy who IIRC was Frodo, which is why he’s the last guy to run out.

Was thinking the same! I take the time to put socks on for anything longer than 10km, but I didn’t expect to see the pros doing that. Anyway, he is a ridiculously fast runner!!
Good to know. I didn’t look at the splits that close, just basing of the video. I think it just goes to show how confident he is. He didn’t panic and rush out when the big names had already left. He stuck to his race and it worked perfectly.

Yes it did. Too bad splits and the video above are all we saw of it.
