They dumbed down the run…. So sad
Less than 1/2 the elevation gain from 21 and it looks horrible with turn, loops, and golf course (that you can’t run in before the race….)

Did you do the race in 2021? That run course was terrible and the reason I did not want to return in 2022. This is an upgrade. The descent into town in 2021 was ridiculous, and you had to do it twice. Then the 2x 4 mile climb was obnoxious but manageable. Net it was not a fun run and one I would not choose to repeat.
Yes I did. Hell I’d take the May run course (which I thought was harder) over this.
Running down that hill screaming back into town was a blast
Running down that hill screaming back into town was a blastI was the opposite. That hill took years off my knees. It felt like I had to go slower for safety than the trip up. I observed two very distinct types of runners last year - those who went full speed with legs and arms flailing and those who were holding back a lot and trying to avoid injury or a fall. There was almost no one in between.
Bike course is a little different too.
I don’t mind the changes to the run. 1200 feet of climbing over 13.1 was a bit aggressive. 700 is still plenty honest. My main issue with the course last year was that you did all of this gradual climbing in the front half of the first loop but then lost most of it on one short/steep descent that wasn’t super runnable. I would have flipped directions for last years course. Going up/down diagonal street will be nice & then a little break on the flats through downtown where you think more people would be hanging out to cheer runners on.
Any idea if this thing is going to be wetsuit legal? I can probably just swim in my tri-suit (no pockets and seems to have good range in the shoulders), but knowing if I need to fit a wetsuit in my carry-on might change what else I bring.

I just did an Olympic Tri in Sand Hollow last Saturday (Kokopelli Tri) and the water temp, according to the organizers, was 76 degrees. I think it should be wetsuit legal for AG’ers by race day for sure. Bring your wetsuit.
Guessing it’ll be wetsuit legal. It was up in the air last year & now the race is a month later. I would pack it.
Awesome! Thanks
Just so it’s here, water temps/conditions:

FYI - They haven’t been updating this website this year for some reason. That 81 water degree temp reading is about 2 months old.
Agreed. Lake Monster has good historical data. Based on that there shouldn’t be any reason it wouldn’t be wet suit legal.
Are they planning to return to the normal course for the 70.3 in May? Anybody have insight on that?
Thanks for the info…was hoping it would NOT be a wetsuit legal world’s like last year. That was awesome.

How about they just dumbed up the bike course. The bike will head down a service road? Partially paved? WTF? Does anyone have any beta on this service road that a WC field will be riding on? Should I expect to be praying not to flat? Thanks in advance.
It’s going to be chilly 🥶.

Especially for the earlier age groups (myself included). Toe covers, arm warmers, gardening gloves (a bit windproof with the coating will help), maybe a very thin hat under the helmet, possibly a trash bag down the front of the suit (this will be a last minute decision based on race morning predicted hourly temps). Looks to be great running weather, though!
Would you have any information if athlete can be dropped off by family member? Would the swim site be accessible or open to any vehicles besides the shuttle?
Thanks
Pretty sure that unless you’re staying in those condos right across from Sand Hollow, you’re going to need to take the shuttles.
Could a person drive to these residential locations and be dropped off? Then walk over to T1?
