I booked an airbnb, which I would 100% recommend again. Economical, and plenty in close distance to race start, restaurants, etc. If you are a hotel person, I assume you want to be a little more pampered, so in that case, we walked by this one frequently which looked pretty nice:
or this one

But both of those are pricier than an airbnb. Although… I will say, my airbnb in Nice was the first time I was exposed to the concept of a… garbage disposal inside the toilet? ![]()
2026 is done - can’t imagine comments get much better than this!
If reading this doesn’t make you a little squeamish, I don’t know what will:
“Macerating toilets, or upflush toilets, use a built-in electric pump with stainless steel blades to grind solid waste and toilet paper into a fine slurry, then pump it through small pipes to the main sewer line.”
For 2026 worlds I went wtih an AirBnB on the Promenade des Anglais around 500m from finish line with ocean view. Was not that expensive. That’s Thu-Mon of race week and before that I am staying in Antibes Sat-Thu to hang out and train also AirBnb. I’m renting a car while in Antibes just to have options to get around but ditching it as soon as I am in Nice. Got direct flight from Montreal to Nice on Air Canada so hopefully not much of a bike transport shit show as Marbella airport was.
Oh also the car comment reminded me. You don’t need to rent a car at all. You can take public transit to from the airport in 20 minutes for a couple euros and don’t need to deal with parking. But you should download the metro app and get that setup. The machines at the airport only give you the option to pay like 20 bucks for a ticket if you don’t have and app.
I’m doing an Airbnb as well for 2026, I am bringing my family with me and we needed a bigger space so this works a lot better for us than a hotel. We’re about 500m from the swim start, I booked it a month or so ago but I imagine w/o too many qualifying races between then and now there are still a number of options available. It’ll be my first time racing in Nice (or Europe at all for that matter), and first WC. I’m sure I’ll mess something up with the logistics but hopefully the Airbnb isn’t one of them!
Get the metro straight in to town these days
Any Airbnb in the old town or on the promenade will be fine
Just consider some older buildings may not have lift access.
I would try to stay within half a km of the start / finish.
Just to be clear, while in Nice no car. While in Antibes, I want a car just to go out and explore the region further than I might get on a bike on day trips.
Don’t try to hump the toilet and you’ll be fine?
