Considering signing up for the Disney 70.3 and Vineman 70.3 (already registered for the Ralph’s 70.3), and I’m wondering if I need to get the entries in soon to avoid a sellout! I see that Eagleman 70.3 is already sold out for next June!
Anyone know how quickly Disney and Vineman sell out?
Targeting Chesapeake Man for my first full IM (or should I say “Iron Distance”) race. Can’t see spending nearly $500 on entry fees at these M-DOT full IM’s!!!
bump
.
I would think that Vineman wouldn’t sell out until spring '06. My brother was 22nd on the wainting list in the late spring and even got in.
Thanks Sheik. I understand Vineman 1/2 is an MDot but the full is not. That’s odd!
Races are held on different days. Trying to remember if the full Vineman was ever a Hawaii qualifier (I think it was at one time? Maybe?)…tough swim venue to hold an M-Dot Ironman with all the wave starts necessary because of where the swim is held. It’s one thing to have a 2 1/2 hour difference from start to finish in a half-IM, quite another with a similar sized field (presuming a full M-Dot Vineman was at 2000 starters like the half) and that same start time discrepancy. Bike cut-off times would be hard to administer in that situation.
why the hell do they call it 70.3? lamest name ever.
You mean to say you’re not already proud owner of a 70.3 tattoo? Shame! ![]()
Agree with you—incredibly lame name. Try telling someone “hey, I’m going to the 70.3 World Championships!!”
And they’ll say “wow, I didn’t know that 70.3 was a sport. What is it?”
Ha, ha. IMNA marketing…I guess it’s to put more prestige on it than calling it a “half” ironman, which implies it’s “half as good” as a full ironman.
Last year the Florida Half did not sell out until sometime in April and that was when they had slots for Kona, so I wouldnt worry about it too soon. As for the others, no idea. Just keep checking the websites periodically and most will say something if they are about to sell out.
Thanks!
Full Vineman was an IM qualifier up until 1999 …
Thanks, Dave…I thought I had remembered that it was. Glad to know at least a few of the brain cells are still functioning!
