70.3 Monaco qualifying NOW for Kona 2009

I´m very disappointed with 70.3 Monaco allocation slots for the rece in September

When I did my application (300 € = 400 $) in october, slots was for Kona 2010. Now (january) they (maybe WTC, I don´t know) have changed the slots for Kona 2009 (who can train for a hilly 70.3, then get the slot (very difficult) and then get the travel and be ready for a flat 140.6 only 4 weeks later?

I did my application thinking in qualifyng for Kona 2010 (I´ve been this year, and I want to have a relax for Ironman distance in 2009).

Triangle Events refund me the entry fee, but now I must change a lot of things for 2009 and 2010 (travels, information for my coach, a lot of things related with my way of life in this sport)

It´s only my problem (I suppose there are many people in my way), but I want to write it here

That IS disappointing! . . .to think of the nerve of them to ask an illustrius kona qualifier to do a 70.3 then a full Ironman a month later. . and to announce this 8 months out from the actual race date before it is even full! Dont they know that all you wanted to do was have an easy year with no IM’s schedule and you planned the next 18 months of your life out precisely in october. sheesh! they should know that us triathletes sign up for events 12 or even 16 months ahead of time! the audacity!

honestly the next 2 years of your life are utterly and completely ruined . … you should probably end it all now cause there is absolutely no coming back from this. I think the katrina victims who lost all there homes and possesions had it easier then you . … i know a few that would NOT want to trade places with you my friend . .hang in there. i’m sure you are in all our prayers and many will hold a candlelight vigil on your behalf

My english isn´t so good as your sense of humor, but I´ll try to explain myself better;

1st of all: You are mixing a very important theme (Katrina) with absolutely nothing to do with triathlon discussions with a minor question that I´m discussing in a Triathlon Forum . Is it funny for you?

2nd; In fact, I´m training thinking in Hawaii 2010. Maybe it´s difficult to understand to you, but I´ve many things to do in the next 21 months. If you want I can explain them off the forum.

Thanks for your words, they´re so constructive and respectful for triathletes and people from NO. You´ve been very helpful

I think this is what you’re looking for

I need spanish words to answer you.

Well, let´s talk about Cervelo P4, Lance Armstrong and Zipp 1080

Getting your entry fee refunded is a hurdle that most race production companies would not be willing to help you out with, so consider that a win.
The other logistics you need to change are no different than if you got injured a month before the race; at least now you have 8 months to sort it all out. A single afternoon of changing travel plans and reorganizing your race season with your coach should get you on the right track.
Don’t worry about your English; there are many non-native English speakers here and I think you got your point across just fine. Comprende, amigo?

I am not sure why everyone is acting like an a$$, they changed it after you signed up which I would also not be happy about. Some of the things people complain about here that are so childish at least yours has some basis.
Good luck

This is nice!! You hear a couple of answers that don’t agree with you and next thing you do is blame the forum for talking about bullshit. What a troll.

You have a problem with your ego, why bother us with your training and your race in IMH?

That really doesn’t make a lot of sense. In essence what we’re seeing is that now the Monaco race will have 60 slots for 2009 IMH. 30 from the '08 race and 30 from the '09 race. I agree with the OP. Expecting participants to take on IMH a month after this race just doesn’t leave enough time to handle the travel or life planning. It’s no mean feat to arrange international travel that quickly.

Much less putting in the effort to actually qualify at Monaco with only a month to recover and prepare for Hawaii. Travel is tough enough but it looks like this guy wants to have a good solid race in Hawaii. That will be pretty tough to do with only a month between races no?

agreed on that point as well. My point was the argument could be made that it just doesn’t work from a logistics, taking care of your customers point of view before even taking into account the training requirements.
