70.3 in Texas?

There was a 70.3 event mentioned during the Kona web cast. I visited http://www.ironmanlive.com/70.3 and couldn’t find it. Maybe it was not considered “scenic” enough as I know a handful of people joked about it. Anyone knows a url for this event ?

Thanks,

I would assume that is a very hot time of year in Texas for a 1/2IM race, is that accurate?

OMG! Hot is an understatement, It’s usually in the 90s. plus lots of good headwind on the return trip on the bike, and some great hills on the run.

Most people wear a wet suit, but the temp,. is the barely legal. I have not worn one the past 2 times, and was plenty toasty.

Done Lubbock 3 times maybe 4. lost count. The Greers (race directors) have been doing this event a long time. Lubbock pretty, i’d say not.

Tough 1/2 - Go for it.

I did it in 04. It is definitely hot. Encountered a headwind on the last 10 miles of the bike. Not that much shade on the run either. It is a difficult race, but a fun one at the same time. The Greer’s do a fabulous job at putting on a race. Lots of good race schwag - multiple T-shirts, finisher medal, nice awards dinner, etc.
